Inc. ("CNS") was formed in 1984 with the sole purpose of
helping subcontractors and material suppliers get paid. As a
learned judge once said, "the real estate industry in the
State of California is built upon the bones of subcontractors
and material suppliers". When that statement was made, it was
in large part true. The ease with which subcontractors and
material suppliers could be denied their rightful pay was
legend. Slowly, many states began enacting statutes based upon
the concepts of Mechanic's Liens which gave subcontractors
more leverage in collecting monies owed to them by attaching
lien rights to the real estate that was being improved.
Along with the statutes in the various states came a
blizzard of timetables and filing requirements that had to be
strictly adhered to in order to establish a subcontractor's
all important lien rights. These requirements, though
necessary, proved to be strange and burdensome for all but the
largest and most sophisticated tradesmen. Enter CNS.
CNS has spent the last 18 years studying and perfecting the
way that construction related notices, namely preliminary
notices and mechanic's liens are filed on behalf of
subcontractors and material suppliers so the company could
perform this service on behalf of busy tradesmen. CNS stays
abreast of the relevant statutes in the various states it
serves so that its customers don't have to. A sophisticated
system of research and checks have been put in place to help
insure that any notices filed by CNS are the most accurate of
any in the industry.
